Your Newly Elected Executive Members

We are pleased to introduce Naseem Ullah, Dishika, and Indy Angela Quartel, who have been elected by the membership to join the AUBSU Executive Committee.

Together they bring a reflective and thoughtful approach, real enthusiasm for building community and supporting student wellbeing, and a strong commitment to making creative and academic work more accessible. They will now help to guide campaigns, initiatives, student activity and representation throughout the year, ensuring members’ views remain central to our work.

Election turnout: 22.4 per cent

AI Referendum: Members Support Limiting the Use of AI Generated Materials

Alongside the elections, members took part in a referendum which asked:

“Should the Students’ Union and the University be asked not to use AI generated materials including art, images and media that are created or led by AI?”

The response was clear, with 90 per cent voting yes.

AUBSU will now adopt a position that seeks to limit the use of AI generated artwork, images and media in our communications, events and outputs. This represents the collective view of members during the voting period. The University will make its own decision, though we will share the members’ view to support its consideration.

Referendum turnout: 31.75 per cent

This strong turnout shows how much members care about creative integrity, transparency and the future of student led decision making.
