Arts University Bournemouth Students’ Union (AUBSU) is delighted to announce the appointment of Charlotte Baker as its new Students’ Union Manager, taking up post from 12 January 2026.
Charlotte joins AUBSU at an important moment for the Students’ Union, as it continues to strengthen its structures, relationships and offer to students. With a strong background in students’ unions and a passion for leadership development, Charlotte brings a wealth of experience and a clear commitment to student-centred work.
Reflecting on her appointment, Charlotte said:
“I am thrilled to be joining Arts University Bournemouth Students’ Union as their Student Union Manager in the new year. As a team, we can work together to build strong foundations for AUBSU, foster positive relationships within the sector, and create a space where our students feel heard and supported. Coming from a creative background myself, I am looking forward to getting back to a small specialist institution, networking within the southern region, and working with colleagues to create opportunities for student leadership and development. I am ready to get stuck in with the team in 2026 and have a fantastic start to the new year.”
Charlotte will take over from Scott Farmer, who has been serving as Change Director at AUBSU. Scott will remain in post to support a smooth transition and will depart at the end of Thursday 15 January 2026, following a short handover period.
Commenting on the appointment, Scott said:
“Charlotte’s appointment marks an exciting next chapter for AUBSU. Over the past year or so we’ve focused on stabilising, strengthening and setting clear foundations for the future, and Charlotte is exactly the right person to take that work forward. She brings experience, clarity and a strong values-led approach, and I know she will work brilliantly with both students and staff. I’m proud of what the Union has achieved during this period of change and confident it’s in very safe hands going into 2026.”
The appointment has been warmly welcomed by the Students’ Union’s Sabbatical Trustee team.
Aditi, Sabbatical Trustee, said:
“We are really excited to welcome Charlotte to AUBSU. Her experience and enthusiasm for student leadership and development stood out throughout the process. As trustees, we’re confident she will help us build a Students’ Union that continues to put students at the heart of everything we do.”
Amelia, Sabbatical Trustee, added:
“Charlotte’s appointment comes at the perfect time for AUBSU. She brings a thoughtful, collaborative approach and a genuine understanding of students’ unions. We’re looking forward to working closely with her and continuing to develop a supportive, inclusive and impactful Union for our students.”
AUBSU would like to thank Scott Farmer for his work as Change Director and for his leadership during a period of transition, and looks forward to welcoming Charlotte Baker to the role in January.
